Amongst all the fairs, the book fairs are of recent origin. Book fairs are now frequently held in towns and cities. Last year I visited a book fair in the 'Maidan' opposite to Rabindra Sadan. There were at least two hundred stalls and so many books were displayed. It was a great opportunity of having a varied choice of books in the book fair.

Fed by the monsoon rain the rivers become furious in size and volume in the rainy season in West Bengal. At that time water runs down from hills and mountains and strong current overflows the banks of the rivers. Sometimes crops are washed away by flood water on both sides of the rivers.
